We're Partnering with Wright Training

Hello! Welcome to the Monkey Mind Newsletter, where we provide you with the tools to be a more successful and resilient athlete and human.

PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
We're Partnering with Wright Training

Monkey Mind is now the official Mental Health & Performance Provider for Wright Training, and we couldn’t be more excited about what's ahead.

Wright Training is one of the most respected strength and conditioning gyms in the mountains, with locations in Jackson, Wyoming, and Victor, Idaho. They've built their reputation developing some of the world's top mountain athletes, including competitors on the Freeride World Tour, alongside everyday members chasing their own version of strong.

Starting this summer, that community gets access to something new: a mental performance workshop series built specifically for them.

Why Wright Training

Mountain sports demand a level of composure that most training plans never touch. Skiing an exposed line, racing through variable snow, or grinding out a long trail effort all come down to the same question in the moment that matters: can you trust your training when your mind starts working against you?

That's the gap this partnership is built to close, pairing Wright Training's proven approach to physical development with evidence-based mental skills training.

Crystal Wright, owner and head coach at Wright Training, has lived that gap herself. Born and raised in Jackson, she grew up ski racing and competing in rodeo through high school and college, and went on to become a two-time Freeskiing World Tour champion (2009 and 2012). She still competes professionally in big-mountain skiing today. After working through her own athletic injuries, she built Wright Training around helping people get and stay strong, healthy, and injury-free, earning her NASM Personal Trainer certification, a Mountain Athlete Strength & Conditioning Coach credential, and a Corrective Exercise Specialist designation along the way. That same recovery-to-resilience arc is exactly why this partnership made sense. Crystal has always coached the whole athlete, and now the mental side has a dedicated home, too.

What the Series Looks Like

Over six workshops, Wright Training members will build the confidence, focus, and resilience that turn preparation into performance — on the skin track, at the start line, and in everyday life.

  • 6 workshops, every other week

  • 60-minute live sessions on Zoom, recorded for anyone who can't make it live

  • Led by Sami Gothberg, LPC, CMPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Mental Performance Consultant with a Master's in Sport & Performance Psychology from the University of Denver, whose past work spans the Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy, collegiate programs at UC Berkeley, CU Boulder, and Colorado College, and Olympic and Paralympic athletes through the USOPC

The six topics build on each other, from finding purpose all the way through training for a full life in sport:

  1. What Are You Training For?: connecting to a meaningful purpose that creates consistency and resilience

  2. Trust the Work: building and sustaining the confidence to perform under pressure

  3. Focus Through Pressure: staying locked onto relevant cues while filtering distractions

  4. Comfort in the Uncomfortable: managing the physical and psychological responses to competition

  5. Makes Me Stronger: facing and rebuilding from setbacks and adversity

  6. The Complete Athlete: training for life, not just sport

Why It Matters

For the Wright Training community, this isn't an add-on; it's a natural extension of how they already train. Members get:

  • Engagement & community: a deeper sense of connection within the gym

  • Consistency & retention: mental tools that support sticking with training long-term

  • Injury recovery support: mindsets that carry members through the hardest part of coming back

  • Added value: a clear differentiator that only Wright Training members get access to

We built Monkey Mind because the mental game deserves the same intentional training as the physical one, and partnerships like this one are exactly why. Welcome to the team, Wright Training.
