Welcome to Monkey Mind!
Hello! Welcome to the Monkey Mind Newsletter where we provide you with the tools to be a more successful and resilient athlete and human.
WELCOME
Hey, Monkey Mind community, if you have been here from the start then welcome back! If you’re new here, welcome!
I want to start by introducing/re-introducing myself.
My name is Danny Perez and I started Monkey Mind back in the summer of 2020. It was the peak/start of COVID and there was much uncertainty in all of our lives. I had just finished my first season playing professional hockey in the minor leagues and it did not go as I had hoped. My future in hockey looked grim and I was hanging on with as much as I could.
I figured I’d start a podcast talking about athletes and mental health as it was something I always felt I couldn’t get a solid grip on throughout my entire hockey career and life up to that point. After many conversations with peers, I realized that I wasn’t the only one who dealt with things mentally so I figured I would create a platform to discuss these things in a safe and open environment.
93 episodes were released from the inception till a few months into my move to Colorado in 2022. My coaching schedule got too hectic and unfortunately, I was unable to commit to continue producing high-quality and valuable content with the same energy as I did at the start.
Fast forward a few years and I am still passionate about helping athletes break through the threshold to be their absolute best and so after 3 years of coaching hockey at both the college and youth levels, I could not be more certain that the mental game is what truly separates athletes and allows them to reach their full potential.
This is why I am proud to launch the rebrand of the Monkey Mind platform from a podcast into a mental performance newsletter!
Thanks to the highly qualified and generous contributors, I have gathered newsletter submissions from elite mental performance coaches who have worked with and developed top talent in their respective fields;
Colt Olson, PhD. - Mental Skills Coordinator for the Colorado Rockies, MLB
Sabrina Shapiro - Elite Performance Coach, Fencing, Graduate Student- Sports and Performance at National University
Zoe Frank - Graduate Student - Sport and Performance Psychology at National University
Noreen Leger - Graduate Student - Sport and Performance Psychology at National University
I'm thrilled to have you along for this next part of the journey. We have a lot of really cool things down the pipeline and a lot of valuable content coming your way!
